Umm…. Haven’t soft drinks, aka pop, been around for over one hundred years now?

Why hasn’t obesity been such a big (pardon the pun) problem before the last, oh let’s say, 20 years?

Perhaps it’s not the pop that’s the problem, but a life style issue. I’m getting so tired of more taxes. Okay.

That’s the end of my rant.

    Hi Harold,

I’d venture to guess that pop 100 years ago was a luxury item rather than the cheap bulk item it is today. I agree it’s a lifestyle issue, and I’d venture to guess one of the best ways to adjust bad habits is to give people an economic disincentive to consume unhealthy products (like pop, cigarettes, etc.)
