We’ve all heard of a Sharp flat screen TV or cell phone, but did you know they make commercial microwaves popular among food professionals worldwide?
A History Lesson
Sharp Corporation started in 1912 as a small metal workshop in Tokyo. Tokuji Hayakawa was an inventor, and the Sharp Corporation derived its name from Tokuji’s Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil, which he designed in 1915. Unfortunately, his pencil business was destroyed by an earthquake and the Japanese inventor relocated to Osaka and started designing the first Japanese radio sets. This eventually led to the production of TV sets, calculators, sound equipment, the world’s first camera phone, and household and commercial appliances.
Sharp Commercial Microwaves
With such a vast history in technology and product innovation, let’s dive into the world of Sharp Commercial microwaves to see why our customers love them so much. Sharp categorizes its microwave ovens as medium duty, heavy duty, or TwinTouch™.
Medium Duty
The Sharp 1000W R-21LCF with Dial Timer and R-21LVF with Pre-Programmable Touch Controls are both well suited for smaller kitchens needing a microwave to defrost, reheat, or cook smaller menu items. We’ve also found that these work well in convenience stores, break rooms, or hospitals where a certain level of sturdiness and usability are key.
Heavy Duty
The Sharp R-22GTF is a 1200 Watt Heavy Duty hitter, perfect for kitchens that need a speedy and consistent microwave to cook food. With four power output capabilities, you can customize cooking time, or program up to 20 menu items with specific cooking instructions.
TwinTouch™ (Medium to Heavy Duty)
Sharp kept hearing from its customers that lack of linear counter space in the kitchen creates a hassle when trying to find a home for the microwave. Some kitchen managers had seen their staff use tongs or turners to reach the controls on a microwave placed high on a shelf, or kick the door shut of a microwave placed near the floor. That’s why Sharp invented the TwinTouch™ series which have the control panel on top and bottom of the unit. This means no matter where you place the microwave—below a work bench, or high up on a shelf—your kitchen staff can reach the control buttons without harming themselves or the unit. Choose from 1200 Watt, 1800 Watt, or 2200 Watt.
In order to ensure that these microwaves can stand up to the high-performance needs of an industrial kitchen, Sharp performs rigorous testing and evaluation, so no matter watt (get it?) you’ll find that all Sharp commercial microwaves are smart, dependable, and more than adequate for your busy kitchen.
